Sean T. Burns, MDiv, LCSW

Biography

 Sean Burns is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania holding both a Master's in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh and Master of Divinity with Columbia (SC) International University. He has ten years of business and management experience prior to his career as a practitioner. After becoming licensed in 2007, Sean dedicated his time to both behavioral health and drug and alcohol treatment. He is a frequent presenter on clinical and team-building topics in the workplace, churches, business, and behavioral health settings.


Throughout his clinical and management tenure, Sean has maintained a goal-oriented mindset yielding a teamwork approach toward problem solving and resolution. In the past, Sean has been involved in his church serving as a volunteer youth leader, elder board member, and group collaborator. Examples of Sean’s outreach include leading a spiritually based program aimed at helping both teens and adults heal from past hurts, as well as facilitating support groups for family members who have loved ones struggling with addiction.


Sean joined the Pittsburgh Pastoral Institute (PPI) in 2009 where he currently serves as the Director of Operations. He also continues to see clients on an exclusive basis while providing clinical supervision and consultation and is a nationally certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer. Prior to his present role, Sean served as the organization’s Clinical Director for several years after being a therapist across multiple PPI branch locations.
