Rev. Bryan Bass-Riley, MDiv, MS, LPC

Biography

Rev. Bryan is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania with experience in a variety of settings. Prior to becoming a therapist in 2010, Rev. Bryan spent 12 years working as a hospice and hospital chaplain providing spiritual and emotional support to persons at the end of life and their families. As a therapist, he has worked in crisis mental health, private practice, and agency settings. Rev. Bryan has master’s degrees in divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and counseling from Neumann University. He has also completed a graduate certificate in Organizational Change and Leadership from Robert Morris University.

Rev. Bryan approaches therapy from a position of profound respect for the unique journey of each client and tailors his approach to treatment based on an assessment of each client’s needs and strengths. He starts from a trauma informed, person-centered perspective in his relationship with his clients and makes use of a wide range of therapeutic techniques including mindfulness, CBT, gestalt, and internal family systems.

Deeply committed to racial and social justice, Rev. Bryan strives to bring such values into the therapy space. He is affirming of persons who identify with any sexual orientation or gender identity, and he provides gender affirming treatment for persons who are trans or non-gender conforming.

Rev. Bryan is an active member of a Presbyterian congregation and is also an ordained minister in the Progressive Christian Alliance. He engages in social justice activism within his church and in the broader community. Rev. Bryan enjoys hiking, reading, and home improvement as well as spending time with his wife and young adult daughters.
